Funerals & Memorials

Death is one of the few moments left in modern life that still asks something of us, presence, ritual, the willingness to sit with what's actually happening rather than rush past it. I hold a lot of reverence for that, and I bring the same steadiness into a funeral or memorial that I bring into any room where something significant is taking place.

My training as a death doula sits underneath this work too, alongside the celebrancy itself, giving me a grounded understanding of what this particular stretch of time asks of a family, not just on the day, but in the lead up to it.

Honouring Your Person

A funeral or memorial service, built around the person being honoured and the people gathered to do that honouring.

I've written eulogies, coordinated full ceremony flow from arrival to farewell, and worked alongside families to bring in whatever rituals feel right for them, whether that's something traditional, something personal, or something you're creating for the first time together. For funerals, this can include a service at one location followed by a graveside committal at another, I'll coordinate the flow and timing across both. I'll help arrange who speaks and when, offer music suggestions where you want them (though I know this part is often deeply personal and best led by you), and hold the shape of the day so your family doesn't have to manage the logistics of it as well as the grief.

Includes: One to two meetings with the family to shape the ceremony, ongoing email support to finalise scripts and details, eulogy writing where needed, full coordination of ceremony flow and speakers, ritual suggestions and guidance where wanted.

Death Doula Services

Alongside funeral and memorial celebrancy, I offer death doula support, presence and guidance through the dying process itself, not just the service that follows it.

This can look like companionship through the practical and emotional weight of the time leading up to a death, sitting with someone as they think through how they want that time to go, who they want present, what environment feels right, what rituals or conversations matter most to them before they die. It can mean supporting a family through the uncertainty of what to expect, holding space for the fears and the unfinished conversations that tend to surface, and bridging communication between a family and their medical or palliative team when things feel overwhelming to navigate alone. Some families want a steady presence to simply sit vigil alongside them in the final days. Others want help planning ahead, what the last weeks might look like, how to mark the dying process itself as something worth honouring rather than something to get through.

People bring in a death doula for the same reason they might bring in a celebrant for the funeral that follows, because this stretch of life deserves the same depth of attention and ritual that so much of modern society has quietly stopped offering it. Having someone alongside you who's trained specifically for this time, and who isn't also grieving, tends to give families room to actually be present with each other rather than carrying the logistics and the unknowns alone.

This is a different kind of offering to a single ceremony, ongoing and relationship-based, shaped entirely around what your family needs and how much support you're looking for. Pricing is discussed directly once we've talked through your situation.
